2013 Atlanta BeltLine Southwest 5K

What is the Atlanta BeltLine Southwest 5K?

The Atlanta BeltLine Southwest 5K is a Run/Walk along the Atlanta BeltLine Southwest Trail and through the historic West End and Westview neighborhoods. The race course will introduce participants to many local parks and features a ¾-mile off-road jaunt within the Atlanta BeltLine corridor. It is the second 5K of the 2013 Atlanta BeltLine Running Series!

[wptabtitle]Is there in-store registration? [/wptabtitle]
[wptabcontent]Yes. If you prefer not to register online, you can register at West Stride, located at 3517 Northside Pkwy., Suite #11, Atlanta, GA 30327.[/wptabcontent]

[wptabtitle]Will there be on-site registration? [/wptabtitle]
[wptabcontent]Our last Southwest 5K sold out, so we cannot guarantee that there will be race day registration.[/wptabcontent]

[wptabtitle]How long is the course? [/wptabtitle]

The course is a standard distance of 3.1 miles or 5 kilometers. [/wptabcontent]

[wptabtitle]Can I pick up my race bib before race day?[/wptabtitle]
[wptabcontent]Yes! You will be able to pick up your race bib at REI at 1800 Northeast Expy

[wptabtitle]What are the post-race activities? [/wptabtitle]

[wptabcontent]There is ample parking in the area. We also encourage participants to use MARTA. More detailed parking information coming soon.[/wptabcontent]

[wptabtitle]Can I bring my dog?[/wptabtitle]
[wptabcontent]Dogs are allowed to participate and must be on a leash. Participants with dogs will start the race at the end of the pack. Pet owners are expected to bring all supplies required to keep the area free of pet waste.[/wptabcontent]

[wptabtitle]Can I bring a stroller?[/wptabtitle]
[wptabcontent]Strollers are allowed. Participants with strollers will start the race after the runners and walkers at the end of the pack.[/wptabcontent]

[wptabtitle]Will there be restrooms on the course?[/wptabtitle]
[wptabcontent]Restrooms will be provided only at the start and finish; they will not be located along the course.[/wptabcontent]

[wptabtitle]Will there be water stops on the course?[/wptabtitle]
[wptabcontent]There will be two water stops along the course.[/wptabcontent]

[wptabtitle]What awards will be given?[/wptabtitle]

Awards will be given to:

Top three overall female/male.
Top three female/male in each age category: 14 & under, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, and 60&over

[wptabtitle]Who receives the proceeds from the Run/Walk?[/wptabtitle]
[wptabcontent]The proceeds from the Atlanta BeltLine Southwest 5K and the Atlanta BeltLine Running Series benefit the Atlanta BeltLine Partnership. The Atlanta BeltLine Partnership is a non-profit organization committed to raising funds from private and philanthropic sources to support the Atlanta BeltLine; working with neighborhoods, community organizations, faith organizations, businesses and other groups to raise general awareness and broad-based support for the Atlanta BeltLine; and serving as a catalyst to mobilize resources to address the social concerns raised by new development around the Atlanta BeltLine. Team Challenge

What is the Team Challenge?

As a part of the Southwest 5K we are holding a ‘Team Challenge’ for those who register and want to form a team. Your team can be a group made up from your neighborhood, run club, school, university, company, fraternity/sorority, closest friends or family members, or any other group you want.

[wptabcontent]Yes, there will be a cash purse of $500 split between the fastest team (based on the top 5 finishers on each team), the biggest team, and the most spirited team.

$150 will be awarded to the fastest team, $200 will be awarded to the largest team and $150 will be awarded to the most spirited team. The cash prize will be available on race day for your team to pick up.[/wptabcontent]

[wptabtitle]How do I form a team? [/wptabtitle]
[wptabcontent]Forming a team is easy. Just follow these instructions.[/wptabcontent]

[wptabtitle]Can I be on more than one team?[/wptabtitle][wptabcontent]Yes. You can be on a maximum of two teams at this time.[/wptabcontent]

[wptabtitle]How many people can be on a team?[/wptabtitle]
[wptabcontent]If you are competing in the Team Challenge, you must have at least five people on your team. There is no maximum – the largest team wins $200![/wptabcontent]

[wptabtitle]Are there any discounts?[/wptabtitle]
[wptabcontent]Yes. If you form a team of 20 members, each person on your team will receive $5 off their entry fee. Once you get to 20 members, we will refund $5 to those 20 members, and we will provide a discount code for additional members of your team to use when they register. [wptabtitle]Do I have to be on a team to run in the Southwest 5K?[/wptabtitle]
[wptabcontent]No, you don’t need to be a part of a team. As with all Atlanta BeltLine Running Series events, we will have unique awards for the top three overall finishers (male and female) as well as the top three finishers in each age group (male and female).[/wptabcontent]

[wptabtitle]If I am on a team, can I still compete for individual awards?[/wptabtitle]
[wptabcontent]Yes. You will still be able to qualify for overall and age-group awards.[/wptabcontent][/wptabs]

The Atlanta BeltLine Southwest 1K Youth Fun Run is designed to get runners 12 and under engaged and active on the Atlanta BeltLine. Held shortly after the Atlanta BeltLine Southwest 5K on Saturday, July 13th, the event will feature an abbreviated course and will be limited to 100 participants.

When: Saturday, July 13th at 8:30 a.m., following the Southwest 5K
